What Shutdown and When?
Selecting the right equipment to inspect and overhaul at the right time, with the right scope of work, is fundemental to maximising plant performance and integrity in an environment of ever increasing competitive and regulatory pressures.
This paper will look at selection of equipment for maintenance and the choice of appropriate maintenance intervals. A case study will demonstrate how Net Present Value savings over over 12 years of £2.5million were identiifed.

SASOL experiences in cost/risk optimization
This paper describes some of the methodologies, usages and results obtained during the last four years as the Secunda plant of SASOL. In particular it describes the potimization of the major shutdown strategy, and some of the many inidividual decsions about what capital investment, maintenance or inspection is worthwhile.
